BCU Cafeteria
Introduces Tray-less
Café Dining in Honor of Earth Day
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
students, faculty and staff will "Go-Green" in recognition of
Earth Day, Tuesday, April 22, 2008, by pledging to turn off
lights, computers, and TV; use less water; and go tray-less in
the cafeteria.
“Small changes in every day activities can
make a lasting impact on the environment,” said Jill Akland,
director of dining services at BCU and coordinator of the Go
Green campaign at BCU. “We also are introducing tray-less
dining, which reduces your environmental footprint. Tray-less
dining decreases waste, conserves natural resources and reduces
pollutants, such as detergents, rinse and drying agents into the
water table,” Akland explained.
With their pledges on Earth Day, the BCU
community is being encouraged to incorporate these simple
changes into your every day activities beyond Earth Day.
