BCU Hosts Eating Disorders Candlelight Vigil
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
will host an Eating Disorders Candlelight Vigil on April 16 at
7:00 p.m. in the Stark Center on campus.
“This event is to raise
awareness that recovery from eating disorders is possible,” said
Laurel Meine, LMHC, CADC, counselor at Briar Cliff University.
“We hope the vigil will make people more aware of the recovery
tools available.”
The vigil is in conjunction with the National
Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorder (ANAD)
and co-sponsored by WITCC and Morningside College.
ANAD seeks to provide a message of
hopefulness, positive self-image, acceptance of others,
diversity and freedom of expression. Since 2002, ANAD has
coordinated annual candlelight vigils across the nation to
increase awareness of eating disorders.
