BCU Theatre Announces Production of “Hot Mikado”
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University
Department of Theatre announces the production of Hot Mikado in four
performances beginning April 17 through April 19 in the theatre
on the Briar Cliff campus.
“Hot Mikado is a musical comedy in which light-hearted, though
occasionally biting, satire meets swing-era tunes and dancing,”
said director and production designer Sam Shanks, Ph.D.,
assistant professor of theatre. “The show pokes fun at arbitrary
authoritarianism and explores the subtle and often absurd ways
that imperfect people react to difficult circumstances.”
Joining the production staff are music
director Sr. Mary Day, O.S.F., assistant professor of music and
chairperson of the music department; and conductor Sean Burton,
MFA, assistant professor of music and director of choral
activities.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. on April 17,
18, and 19 with a matinee at 2 p.m. on April 19. Tickets are
$10/adults; $8/senior citizens and students; and free admission
for BCU students.
To reserve tickets, call the Briar Cliff Box
Office at 279-5542.
