BCU Welcomes Gideon Yago of MTV News

Briar Cliff University will host Gideon Yago, a former MTV news producer and correspondent, at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 21 in the St. Francis Center of the Stark Student Center.

Yago will speak to BCU students about politics and other global issues. Yago’s presentation is sponsored by the Briar Cliff University Student Government Association (SGA) and the Campus Activities Board.

“We are excited to have Gideon Yago at BCU,” said Kristin Ruhlman, president of SGA. “His experience and talent are remarkable. In his work as a news reporter, he brings the news to life.”

For the past decade, Gideon Yago has been the source young adults turn to for news, filing reports from Iraq, Kuwait, Pakistan and New Orleans.  Throughout his career, Yago has interviewed politicians, musicians and other celebrities, including President George W. Bush, former President Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Colin Powell and Bill Gates.

Yago has received numerous awards, including an Emmy for his coverage of the 2004 election and the Edward R. Murrow Award for outstanding documentary coverage of the Iraq war.
