SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Briar Cliff University will be awarding a total of $20,000 in continuing education scholarships for eligible new students who will be enrolling for the first time at BCU during the fall 2008 term.

As a part of BCU’s Continuing Education Scholarship Program, one $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to an eligible Western Iowa Tech Community College (WITCC) graduate transferring to BCU and ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to eligible continuing education students who will be enrolling for the first time at BCU.

“Scholarships are important to student success whether you are a traditional or nontraditional student,” said Rita Langhorst, continuing education admissions counselor at BCU.  “Briar Cliff University recognizes that the pursuit of higher education involves time and commitment, and it’s important that continuing education students are provided scholarship opportunities in order to achieve their goal of getting their degrees.”

All continuing education scholarship applicants must be new students in fall of 2008 registering full-time in daytime programs.   Additionally, BCU offers awards for qualified transfer students.  Academic scholarships are based on the student’s cumulative grade point average and require full-time registration in daytime classes.
