The department of history and political science challenges itself to assist students in making a scholarly investigation into the record of the past. Regardless of the particular field or career a student might choose to pursue, it is essential that the student become aware of the historical and political traditions which are a part of each person’s heritage. The department believes that a student must become a more broadly educated person in order to be prepared to live in an increasingly complex society.

History majors will become aware of the significant historical changes in the United States and Europe and be able to relate these to events in the World and non-Western history.
