Student Teaching

Student Teaching

Iowa School Law requires every teaching candidate to complete a student teaching internship. It's both the most challenging and rewarding part of being an education major — and we'll help make sure you're prepared.

You will make formal application for internship in the fall of the year preceding the one in which the internship will be undertaken. Forms for application and faculty recommendation are available by contacting the education department.

The internship is a full-time responsibility. You are required to follow the schedule and activities of the cooperating teacher, including after-school meetings and activities. This educational experience should be scheduled during a semester in which you are free of other college classes, sports and work.
