ENGL 365 - Victorian Literature

Romance, mystery, women’s rights, struggles with faith and doubt—all of these issues will be discussed as we read Charles Dickens, Charlotte Brontë, Robert Browning, Matthew Arnold, and other great writers of late nineteenth-century England.  Through their exploration of these wonderful works, students will gain a greater appreciation for the literature, culture, and history of that period when the British Empire was at the height of its power.
