The Neman Flanagan Center, which is 80 percent underground, is home to Ray Nacke Court, and most of Briar Cliff's athletic offices.
Ground-breaking on this $2 million, 39,000 square-foot facility, which was named after Monsignor Newman Flanagan, took place, Sept. 23, 1981. The court was built, quite literally, into 'The Cliff' on which Briar Cliff sits. The actual dedication of the center took place on Dec. 15, 1982.
Briar Cliff's basketball and volleyball teams use Ray Nacke Court, which is actually made up of, two full-sized college basketball courts that can easily be converted into two regulation volleyball courts.
The building also contains a jogging track, a racquetball court, locker rooms, physical education classrooms, athletic and HPER department offices and a concession area. A training facility was added in the fall of 2000.
